Label Profile: Flygaric Tracks (UK) You’d do well to find more spectacularly contrasting locations to base a label than Aberdeen (Scotland) and San Diego, but then this seems to suit the style of Flygaric Tracks to a tee. “Why did we set up Flygaric? Because we wanted to!” says Iain Macpherson, who co-founded the label with cohorts Alastair Caithness and Dizzy. “It seemed like we had to really”. Their inspirations for creating the label are similarly diverse - The Vikings, Alice In Wonderland, Santa and, curiously, mushrooms. “Flygaric is a label for flygirls and fun guys,” continues Ian, “that’s our family motto. We release music written by party people FOR party people”.
The aims of the label – keeping it funky fresh, but most of all simply to survive in what has become an increasingly saturated and competitive market. With local events like Arriba in Aberdeen and fly by night in montrose showcasing the Flygaric sound however, this should be all but guaranteed. Now, where can I catch that Aberdeen to San Diego flight…
